STAGEDESIGN & SET & EXHIBITION & EVENT & PUBLIC SPACE
Following the festivals theme "Supermarkt" aiming at questioning the commercialization of our everyday lives and day-to-day politics, we were looking into the secret life of goods before entering the supermarket. We designed the space for the two day conference as a logistics centre where goods on pallets were waiting to be shipped to their point of sale. The former factory hall was filled with movable stacks of pallets to sit on, fake neon lights and fake stacks of goods, wrapped in hand-stretched film.
We wanted to tell the life story and scenery of goods in their habitat before the consumer sees them. How do aesthetics and infrastructures come to life in a world that is unseen to the public?
To bring the space to life the way there was the possibility to alter the auditorium with lift trucks that were operated by the staff. A big red button could be operated during lectures to activate warning beacons on the ceiling.
HyperKultur was the space for the eponymous conference, organized by Fuchsbau Festival in spring 2018. This conference discursively prepared the following Fuchsbau Festival „Supermarkt“ in 2019, where we designed our STORNO stage.
